The judiciary has launched a consultation on Vento bands awards for injury to feelings and psychiatric injury, following the case of De Souza v Vinci Construction [2017] EWCA Civ 879. The judiciary wish to uprate them according to the retail prices index (RPI) rather than the consumer prices index (CPI). The bands would be uprated every 12 months without further consultation. The judiciary seeks views on whether this is the right approach to be applied. Responses should be submitted by 25 August.
