With artificial intelligence (AI) advancing at dizzying speed, is the UK too slow to regulate? In this week’s NLJ, Robert Taylor, CEO and general counsel at 360 Law Group, explores the risks of inadequate regulation in this sector, including for the economy.
Taylor writes: ‘The US, the EU, and China have all taken significant steps to regulate AI, aiming to harness its benefits while mitigating its risks. However, the UK has yet to introduce a dedicated AI regulatory framework, relying instead on sector-specific laws and voluntary guidelines.’
He covers a range of issues, including business investment, deepfakes, bias and discrimination, national security and protection of children.
