Lawyers have a chance ‘to save a few bob for the client’, courtesy of advance notice provided of an increase in land charges fees

NLJ columnist & former district judge Stephen Gold provides the tip in his ‘Civil way’ column this week.

Gold also covers recent case law on payments on account, provides a ‘cut out and keep’ box on the special account rate, and muses on a scheme introduced this month to help victims of authorised push payment scams. He writes: ‘The maximum level of reimbursement is £85,000 per scam (£415,000 was the original idea for a cap), which should still cover over 99% of claims.’
