Sir John Thomas to be new LCJ

Sir John Thomas, president of the Queen’s Bench Division, is to be the next Lord Chief Justice. Sir John will succeed Lord Judge in October. Sir John practised at the commercial Bar, and is a past president of the British Insurance Law Association. He is a co-founder of the European Law Institute, a non-profit research body. He said: “Although in a time of reduced resources significant change must continue, the judiciary will play its leading part in ensuring that justice is delivered fairly and efficiently.”
