A 36-page guide to reporting the family courts has been published by the president of the family division, Sir Nicholas Wall, the Judicial College and the Society of Editors

The Family Courts: Media Access and Reporting gives a comprehensive account of media access to the family courts and court documents. Writing in the preface, Sir Nicholas and Bob Satchwell, executive director of the Society of Editors, say: “There is a tension between concerns about ‘secret justice’ and legitimate expectations of privacy and confidentiality for the family.”
