The Solicitors’ Charity supported 50% more solicitors in the past year, according to its annual ‘Big Report’.

The report, published last week, also shows a rise in clients with multiple health conditions and mental health issues. The charity awarded £962,229, with an additional £25,316 in secured loans. Payments covered necessities such as household equipment, medical aids and living allowances. One-off payments also covered fuel bills.

CEO Nick Gallagher said the charity provides practical, emotional and financial support.

Recipients included a London conveyancer with no job, in debt and a family fallout which had left him homeless.
