The Law Centres Network (LCN) is crowdfunding for £2,500 to bring a legal challenge against the Ministry of Justice’s planned changes to the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme, a key service for preventing evictions and homelessness. It has been granted permission to proceed with a judicial review. The planned changes, due to come into force in the autumn, would consolidate the current 117 schemes across the country into a smaller number of much larger ones. The LCN director Julie Bishop says this would make it harder for people to seek help when faced with eviction or follow-on problems.
