Law firm Freeths has expanded its Glasgow office with the appointment of corporate partner Louise Mahon, who joins from Morton Fraser MacRoberts. Her arrival follows a period of strong growth for the firm’s Scottish practice and reflects its continued investment in the region.
With more than 20 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions, investments, group reorganisations and wider strategic corporate work, Mahon has advised clients across sectors ranging from technology and energy to financial services and manufacturing. Raised in Scotland and proud of her roots, her career has also taken her to Manchester and London, including time as in-house counsel for a London family office.
Mahon is recognised in the Legal 500 as a next generation partner in corporate and is known for what colleagues describe as strong commercial judgement and calm leadership. At Freeths, she will focus on the Scottish market while contributing to the firm’s wider UK corporate offering. Commenting on the appointment, joint managing partner of Freeths Glasgow Nick Taylor said the move ‘marks another significant milestone’ for the team and that her ‘stellar reputation will be invaluable’ as the office continues to grow.
Freeths’ Glasgow team has increased its headcount by 20% in 2025, underlining the firm’s ambitions in Scotland. Mahon said joining Freeths at a moment of such momentum was ‘a fantastic opportunity’ and added: ‘The firm’s collaborative approach and ambition really resonate with me.’ She noted that her experience across Scotland, Manchester and London will support clients in ‘achiev[ing] their goals.’
