In brief

Former Davies Arnold Cooper managing partner David Hertzell is to be appointed a Law Commissioner, with effect from 1 July 2007 until 30 June 2012. He will be responsible for leading the Law Commission’s work on insurance law. Hertzell has been a solicitor since 1983, and specialises in professional indemnity, reinsurance, captive insurance and regulatory issues. He replaces Professor Hugh Beale. The five commissioners act as an advisory non-departmental public body, recommending law reform where necessary.
