A group of charities has written to the Ministry of Justice to complain about plans to increase probate fees. The Non- Contentious Probate (Fees) Order 2018 is due to be laid before Parliament this month. It would abolish the £215 flat-rate probate fee and replace it with fee bands. Estates worth less than £50,000 would be exempt while those worth more would pay between £250 and £6,000.
