The Bar Council has, for the first time, opened up its membership to chambers. Previously, membership was only available to barristers. Chambers membership is available in a package with access to ten new courses and two new forums for heads of chambers and chambers management staff, in addition to the usual services that the Bar Council provides.

Dr Isabel DiVanna, commercial director at the Bar Council, said the Bar Council has ‘listened carefully to feedback from members of the Bar and chambers’ staff who are often keen to take training courses but feel many on offer are simply not relevant to them’. The courses aimed at chambers are also open to any individual barristers who wish to attend.
