An eight-week consultation on the “adequate procedures” guidance under the Bribery Act 2010 has been launched by the Ministry of Justice.

The Act, due to be implemented in April 2011, will introduce a corporate offence of failure to prevent bribery by employees working for a business. The defence to that offence is that the corporation has in place “adequate procedures” to prevent bribery occurring on its behalf. The consultation closes on 8 November 2010. A LexisNexis conference on the Bribery Act will be held in London on 28 September 2010.
