The high court has blocked payment of a £175,000 severance payment agreed with the chief executive of an NHS Trust forced out in the wake of a “superbug” outbreak, on the basis that it was “irrationally generous”. Meanwhile, the European Commission has set out principles for remunerating risk-based staff in financial institutions. These include deferring bonuses and the use of claw-back clauses to reclaim bonuses where data has been proven to be manifestly misstated.
