Lord Justice David Bean has been announced as the 14th Chairman of the Law Commission. He will take up his appointment in August when the term of the current Chairman, Lord Justice Lloyd Jones, comes to an end. Bean LJ was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in October 2014, and had served as a high court judge since July 2004. Professor David Ormerod QC, law commissioner for criminal law, has been re-appointed for a further five years.
