Former civil servant Stephen Crowne has been appointed chief executive of the Bar Council. The role had been vacant since May 2011.
Crowne, who will take up his new post on 3 June, was previously senior director of global education at Cisco. He has also served as chief executive of the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta), and as a civil servant in the Department for Education.
