Celso De Azevedo is an international re/insurance and commercial dispute resolution lawyer, qualified both in the UK and as a New York Attorney, who is regarded as a leader in the fields of cross-border and conflict of laws international litigation, particularly involving cyber risks, cyber insurance, cyber litigation, business interruption, marine, trade, construction, engineering, D&O, E&O, casualty, offshore and energy losses, including subrogation claims.
Celso’s latest book, Cyber Risks Insurance—Law and Practice, was published by Sweet & Maxwell in July 2019 and he has also authored the latest edition of Walmsley on Business Interruption Insurance, published by Witherby Insurance.
Celso is a founding committee member of the Cyber Insurance Association and past president of the London Business Interruption Association. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), and a former visiting lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee (CEPMLP).
Celso has also contributed a chapter on ‘Insurance and Reinsurance Arbitration—A View from the London Market’ to the LexisNexis publication, International Commercial Arbitration Practice in the 21st Century.
Celso has extensive experience in dealing with complex legal issues relating to cyber risks insurance disputes as well as business interruption losses in property and contingent business interruption policy wordings.
