The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) launched a consultation last week on whether to revise the unspent criminal convictions eligibility rule of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2012
Currently, an applicant’s compensation award may be reduced or withheld if they have an unspent conviction for certain offences. The consultation invites views on whether to keep the rule and on potential reforms. The consultation closes at 11.59pm on 5 August 2022.
