Clients who report a complaint about their solicitor have to wait an average of 550 days before Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal proceedings are issued, according to figures released by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) this week. About 83% of issues are concluded in 12 months. Paul Philip, SRA chief executive, says: “It is the hallmark of any profession that it deals quickly and firmly with individuals who commit serious breaches of its rules. That is an important part of our job.”
