Dismissed employees try to bring claims before summer deadline
Dismissed employees are rushing to bring claims before unfair dismissal restrictions come in this summer, research by commercial law firm EMW has revealed. Figures for the first quarter of 2013 show a 44% spike in claims—15,300 compared with 10,600 in the previous quarter. The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill is expected to introduce a fee of £250-£950 for bringing a claim at an employment tribunal and cap the maximum pay-out for a successful unfair dismissal claim to one year’s pay or £74,200, in the next few months.
