Compared to other professionals, senior judges are the most socially exclusive, according to a Social Mobility Commission and Sutton Trust report, ‘Elitist Britain’, published this week.
The Commission and Trust research was conducted among more than 6,000 professionals at the top of their field. Some 65% of senior judges were educated at an independent school, and three-quarters attended Oxford or Cambridge universities. However, the number of senior judges who attended a comprehensive school has risen from 4% in 2014 to 13%.
