The Justice Committee launched an inquiry this week into the future of the Probation Service

It is seeking written submissions by 7 September and aims to publish its report in February 2021. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Justice returned to a single national probation service with some services still contracted out.

Sir Bob Neill, chair of the Justice Committee, said: ‘We’ll want to know if this new model will work and whether it will be capable of clearing the backlog of probation work caused by the pandemic.’
