The Supreme Court case on obligations arising from the tragic accident in Egypt of international lawyer Sir Ian Brownlie and his daughter Rebecca, has clarified the law on service out of jurisdiction

The accident, in 2010, also caused serious injury to Lady Brownlie, and Rebecca’s two children suffered injuries. Lady Brownlie brought the case, pursuing damages from the operator of the hotel which provided the excursion.

Writing in this week’s NLJ, Daniel Blake and Katherine Deal QC, of 3 Hare Court, look at the case and its implications for future cases.
