In the first of a two-part series, family lawyers Kim Beatson and Victoria Brown, of Anthony Gold, provide a cut out and keep guide to fact finding hearings in private children hearings

They provide valuable explanations of evidential and practical issues, offer practical advice and in-depth definitions of key terms. The hearings often concern issues such as physical abuse or controlling and coercive behaviour. The authors give advice on obtaining evidence from the police, from medical records and on social media. They note that while judges ‘tend to be quite tolerant of screenshots’, it is best to be cautious about social media evidence.
