New senior presiding judge

Lady Justice Macur has taken over the reins as senior presiding judge this week. She is the first woman to hold the role since it was created in 1983. The role entails being a board member of HM Courts and Tribunals Service, as well as overseeing the work of presiding judges on each Circuit in England and Wales, deployment of work in the courts, personnel issues for judges below High Court level and liaison with government departments. Lady Justice Macur replaces Lord Justice Fulford, who stood down on 31 March to become the Investigatory Powers Commissioner.
