The Legal Services Board (LSB) has approved changes to the training regulations proposed last month by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The reforms abolish the need for solicitors to complete an SRA-specified training contract, as long as their training has been of a similar length and scope. Prospective trainees must disclose any issues relating to character and suitability before they begin. Law students will no longer need to enrol with the SRA prior to beginning the LPC. The changes will come into force on 1 July.
