Lexis®Library update: In response to the conclusions and recommendations, the government has said HMCTS will support the President of the Family Division (PFD) in encouraging District Family Judges to write to local MPs to invite them to visit local family courts and will also continue to work closely with the judiciary to monitor the impact of remote observation provisions in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 (PCSCA 2022).
The government has said also HMCTS new CATH service will make listing information available to public and media in one place and will consider how it can make it easier for journalists to contact courts and improve consistency and efficiency when accessing information they require.
In 2023, the government has said it will develop and publish a charter for the public that sumarrises current rules that facilitate public access to court and tribunal hearings and carry out a ‘light-touch qualitative review’ with court and tribunal staff and the judiciary to understand the impact of remote observation on its services.
