The government’s controversial decision to give the green light to a third runway at Heathrow Airport could lead to major legal action against the proposed expansion. A group of local authorities, including Wandsworth, Windsor and Maidenhead, Hillingdon and Richmond councils have pledged to seek a judicial review. Greenpeace has said it will join the councils in the fight, and other environmental groups are eyeing up the possibilities for legal action as well as protest and campaigning work.
