Firm announces appointment of partner as UK general counsel
Haynes Boone has appointed long-time partner William Cecil as UK general counsel, reflecting the firm’s continued growth in London and the increasing scope of its international legal and regulatory operations. He will work closely with general counsel Ben Mesches and the Dallas-based office of the general counsel to strengthen cross-border compliance and internal legal coordination.
Cecil, who previously served as london office managing partner, has been with the firm since 2016 following the merger of his former firm, CDG, with Haynes Boone. He will continue his shipping dispute resolution practice alongside his expanded compliance and internal legal responsibilities. Corporate partner Nick Davis, who joined as co-office managing partner in February, will now continue in that role alone.
Managing partner Taylor Wilson said: ‘Will has played a central role in the evolution of our London office’ and that the appointment ‘ensures we have trusted, on-the-ground support aligned with our U.S.-based GC team.’
Cecil added: ‘This role recognizes the growth of our outpost in London’ and said it is ‘about supporting the people doing that work.’ The new role comes as the firm’s London office relocates to support expanded corporate and international activity and builds on its recent high-profile capital markets mandates.
