Corporate counsel report that only eight per cent of external lawyers “always” keep within budget, according to a survey by dispute resolution funder Vannin Capital. Some 14% of corporate counsel said their external lawyers never set a budget. 64% of corporate counsel say their litigation spend has increased in the past two years, and 56% said they had at some stage not pursued meritorious claims due to the costs of bringing an action. The survey results are revealed in the second report of Vannin’s Funding in Focus series.
