Increase in in-house legal vacancies in energy firms

In-house legal departments in the energy sector have been on a hiring spree, according to the latest legal sector recruitment briefing by recruiters Badenoch & Clark. Guy Emmerson, operations director, legal, at the recruitment firm, said: “Energy, oil and gas has seen an increase in vacancies with a corporate focus...resulting in an influx of corporate private practice lawyers moving into the in-house market.” Elsewhere, permanent hiring has slowed at the larger firms, with some firms undergoing redundancy consultations, apart from commercial litigation roles within employment law which are bucking the trend.
