The government has decided against creating a specialist Housing Court to help speed up disputes between landlords and tenants

The idea was suggested in a call for evidence as far back as November 2018 by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, in a paper, ‘Considering the case for a Housing Court’.

In its response last week, however, the government said ‘there is already an ample pool of knowledge about the housing possession process within the judiciary, and a new housing court is not necessary to improve the existing level of expertise.'
