Commercial disputes team lead promoted to partner

BCL Solicitors LLP has announced the promotion of Robert Lawrie to partner, recognising his pivotal role in establishing and leading the firm’s commercial disputes team since 2023. Lawrie’s appointment reflects the firm’s expanding expertise in high-value litigation, fraud claims, arbitration, asset recovery and complex multi-jurisdictional disputes.

With more than two decades of experience, Lawrie is a highly regarded litigator recommended in leading legal directories. His practice spans commercial and civil litigation fraud claims, shareholder and trust disputes, injunctive relief, arbitration and cross-border asset recovery. His clients include corporates, high-net-worth individuals, directors and regulated entities. Recent instructions have included a $2bn fraud case, multi-jurisdictional shareholder fraud proceedings, and litigation linked to the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Before joining BCL, Lawrie practised as a barrister and held partnerships at leading City and Mayfair firms. Since his arrival, he has been instrumental in developing the commercial disputes team into a core part of the firm’s offering. ‘Rob’s depth of experience, strategic mind, and client-first approach make him a formidable litigator,’ said managing partner Richard Sallybanks. ‘His appointment as partner reflects both his personal contribution and the confidence placed in him by clients and colleagues.’

Lawrie’s promotion further underscores BCL’s commitment to providing clients with integrated advice across civil, criminal and regulatory issues. The firm’s disputes team now complements its market-leading practices in business crime, tax investigations, and serious and general crime, enabling it to offer clients comprehensive representation in complex, high-stakes matters.
