BBC “fall guy”

The BBC’s former chief technology officer, who was fired after overseeing the disastrous £100m Digital Media Initiative (DMI), has won his unfair dismissal claim. John Linwood sued the BBC after he was sacked in July last year after DMI was axed. Linwood told an employment tribunal that he was made a “fall guy” for DMI’s failure and claimed it had not been necessary to scrap it. The tribunal unanimously found that Linwood was unfairly dismissed.
