Only five per cent of tradespeople believe that exposure to asbestos is legally accountable, according to a survey by industrial diseases compensation specialists Jefferies Solicitors. Nearly 60% of tradespeople were able to identify asbestos and 40% knew somebody that had been affected by it, but only half of them had been trained to deal with it and more than a third had been exposed to it at work. In fact, 20 people die from asbestos exposure every week, according to Health Safety Executive figures.
